"A statement within the Sunshine State Standards that describes what students at a certain grade level should know and be able to do. More detailed than a strand or standard" (source: Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test [FCAT] 8.0 Glossary).

‚ÄúStatements of major milestones for learning for each of the Sunshine State Standards. For the academic subject areas, benchmarks are stated at four grade level clusters: Prekindergarten to Grade 2, Grades 3-5, Grades 6-8, and Grades 9-12. For special diploma standards, benchmarks are stated at three levels of proficiency: Independent, Supported, and Participatory‚ÄĚ (source: Florida State University: Center for Performance Technology).
