A Lesson in Life with Hank the Cowdog
John Erickson will entertain your entire family through story and song as you spend some time with him and Hank the Cowdog. You will enjoy learning life's lessons contained within these humorous tales as you picture yourself out "on the ranch" at Hank's side while he relates his experiences and what he learns so often from messes of his own making!
Hank's Family in Concert (with Kris Erickson)
Join John and Kris Erickson as they take you into the world of Hank the Cowdog, singing the songs and telling the stories you've long enjoyed in the books. Get to know Hank's "family" as the Ericksons also share from their life experiences of homeschooling their own children, creating Hank stories, and, yes, living out on a ranch.
Writing as a Christian Vocation
In this workshop, John will explain the biblical message contained in a very unlikely place--a hilarious story narrated by a ranch horse! Diary of a Bronc. He will talk about what it means to be a Christian writer, making frequent references to his new book, Story Craft: Reflections On Faith, Culture, and Writing, and drawing on his four decades of experience as the author of the fifty-six books in the Hank the Cowdog series. Bring your questions about faith, culture, and writing.
Censorship of the Christian Worldview in Popular Culture
The author of Hank the Cowdog will discuss the subtle (and not so subtle) methods that media and entertainment companies use to blur or obliterate the Christian worldview in books, television, and movies. He will draw on his experience with book publishers, CBS Television, Disney, and Nickelodeon. How do we respond to the “religion” of political correctness? John suggests that we might have to publish our own books and make our own movies. He will discuss these and other such subjects covered in his book, Story Craft: Reflections on Faith, Culture, and Writing.
