Foundational Language Arts
Homeschool parents understand that producing excellent readers is of supreme importance but are often confused how to accomplish this, or they underestimate the other vital subjects that provide the foundation for reading success. This workshop addresses how to build a well-balanced language arts program and includes tips and suggestions that have stood the test of time, are effective for all learning styles, and are based on solid literacy research. This session is appropriate for parents of pre- or beginning readers or those with struggling older readers.

Spell to Write and Read
This unique program, written by Wanda Sanseri, a homeschool educator with experience as a professional school teacher andprivate tutor, shows how to teach reading the "write" way. Some children can learn to read and spell no matter what a teacher does. By phonetically teaching spelling from the start, as the backbone forreading, we can teach all children, regardless of learning styles, toread and spell. If your students already know how to read, thisprogram will provide an excellent basis for their spelling andEnglish instruction. SWR is a complete spelling program, from beginning to college level; integrates Penmanship with phonics and spelling; teaches comprehensive, explicit phonics; teaches the love of reading using “real” books; integrates beginning grammar with composition; and reinforces vocabulary building, includingwhen and how to introduce derivatives and Greek & Latin roots. SWR is appropriate for students Kindergarten to adult, for beginning, remedial, ESL, and illiterate readers.

My hope is that this list will assist conference organizers in connecting with Elizabeth "Liz" Fitzgerald and other workshop leaders and speakers. Furthermore, my desire is to help homeschool workshop leaders and speakers develop relationships with more convention planners and audiences. May your efforts be for the glory of Christ and the strengthening of His saints.
