Between 1798 and 1948, 12 thinkers—"Prophets of Error" influenced western civilization to retreat from scriptural truth in almost every major field of studyincluding literature, biology, geology, ethics, history, economics, government, hermeneutics, theology, physics, psychology, and pedagogy. In a concise whirlwind trip through some of the most famous figures in modern western thought, this talk sketches the individual and collective influence of Wordsworth, Lyell, Kierkegaard, Marx, Darwin, Nietzsche, Wellhausen, Freud, Dewey, Keynes and Einstein. Powerpoint slides accompany the presentation that show the thinkers themselves and people and things associated with them. The talk concludes by explaining that only through parent-directed homeschooling can our children be taught the truth in these areas of study, and underlining the vital importance of protecting our liberty. Parents who hear this talk will have a new and compelling reason to believe that homeschooling is exactly the right choice. The host organization is requested to provide a screen for displaying the slides and, if possible, a power-point projector. Preferably the location will permit lights to be dimmed for optimum slide visibility.

Your Parental Rights: The Left's Next Target

Scott Woodruff, a follower of Christ since his conversion in 1971, earned his juris doctor degree from the University of Virginia in 1980. After working for John Ashcroft, and subsequently a major regional insurance company, Scott came to work for HSLDA in 1998. He is a member of the bar of the Supreme Court of the United States, and licensed in Virginia and Missouri. He has assisted thousands of home educating families in dealings with social workers, police officers, truant officers, principals, superintendents, and prosecuting attorneys. Scott is a frequent speaker at homeschool conferences and on radio programs across the country. Scott and his wife, Jane, homeschooled all three of their children.
