How to Teach Math so Children Will Ask for More
Parents often find math difficult to teach because they themselves do not have a good foundation. Math is discovering patterns and relationships, not memorizing facts. Incorporate the childs natural ability to visualize using the abacus. Use math games for mastering the facts. Hands-on learning and visual strategies help master facts and solve problems. This workshop will introduce you to a new way to teach math one both you and your child will enjoy.
Games, Math Games, Math Card Games!
Help your children master math facts and concepts with 300 card games. Use addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, clocks, and money games with any math program. In this session, you will learn and play some of the games.
Games and Strategies for Mastering the Facts
Explore some visual strategies to help children learn the basic math facts. Come and discover some simple card games that children love. Games are to math as books are to reading.
A New Look at Fractions: Use a Linear Model
A linear model for fractions, rather than circles, gives children the overview that fractions can be greater than one. It also enables them to experience more easily the relationship between fractions. Some simple games using the fraction pieces and cards will be demonstrated.
