Testing & Portfolios (with Hillary Berry and Holly Hebert)
Florida statute requires that an annual evaluation of a student's progress be submitted to the county superintendent's office where the student resides. The statute (1002.41(c) details five options a parent/guardian may choose from to comply with this requirement. Confused about which choice is right for your child?? We will give a detailed explanation of each evaluation option. We will also compare the most common nationally normed tests that are available and give instruction on how to interpret test results. We will also discuss portfolios evaluations; including a list of items commonly required in a portfolio, how to organize your portfolio and sample portfolios for you to view. Though the Florida law has not changed regarding the options available since the Home Education Act of 1985, each county may have their own procedures and process the home education students' annual evaluation reports quite differently. This workshop will address these issues and there will also be resource information and handouts provided.
