Is My Child Dealing with a Character Issue or a Learning Struggle?
In the first of a two-part seminar, Connie uses her experience as a homeschool mom and an educational therapist to help parents understand symptoms of a learning struggle in a child.  Children with learning problems are often told they are limiting their own progress by failing to commit their fullest efforts to their schoolwork.  Often times these students are accused of being lazy, disinterested and unmotivated.  In this workshop, Connie will bring understanding to the term “learning struggle” or “learning disability” in an interactive format which will give parents greater insight into the life of a struggling learner.

Effective Strategies for the Struggling Learner
In the second of a two part seminar, Connie will help parents develop teaching strategies that are most effective for the struggling learners.  An effective approach to curriculum and instruction along with specific techniques aimed at perceptual and auditory weaknesses can help develop confidence and competence in a struggling student. This workshop will give parents tools that may help identify areas of struggle in their child and strategies that apply to specific areas of weakness.  These tools can also develop better reasoning abilities and more efficient thinking skills.
