True Story
Whether it’s documentary storytelling or adapting a real event to a feature film, the process of weaving together stories based in reality is invigorating. From years of award-winning, documentary filmmaking experiences to countless projects in the “reality” realm to his current work developing a feature film based on a true story, Ken Carpenter brings his love for real people and real stories to this session that explores successful techniques for bringing true stories to film.
All in the Family
The crossroads of film and family is taking a new turn as more and more families are experiencing the benefits of working together in the film arena. This session explores the rewards realized when families team together to make a film. Producer/Director Ken Carpenter has worked with his brother, Rod, for many years. And most of his shoots include at least a few other family members on the crew.

Producer/Director Ken Carpenter has been making award-winning film and video projects for over twenty years. He founded Franklin Films, which has produced numerous projects for the leading names in Christian media and ministry, and more recently, he founded Franklin Springs Family Media, which produces films designed to entertain and edify families.
Ken's television experience includes fifteen episodes of a recent human-interest series with host Joni Eareckson; "Unplanned: The Abby Johnson Story" for Focus on the Family; recent broadcast music and documentary specials for John Tesh and Amy Grant; and many others.
Ken has also done commercial, promotional, and music video projects for Steven Curtis Chapman, Michael W. Smith, Max Lucado, dc Talk, Compassion International, Jeremy Camp, Tyndale Publishers, Casting Crowns, Big Idea Productions, Mercy Me, The Gideons, Point of Grace, and numerous others.
Ken is now developing a feature film project, which is slated to shoot in the Upstate in 2012.
Ken maintains that the filmmaking arena holds great promise for homeschoolers, believing that the convergence of technological advances and opportunities inherent in homeschooling create unique possibilities for developing filmmakers. Ken will be one of the featured speakers on the Filmmaking Track for the Teach Them Diligently Convention.
Ken and his wife Devon live just outside the creative haven of Franklin, TN, where they enjoy the adventure of raising their nine children.
