Teaching Your Girls to Cry: Mother/Daughter Session – on World Missions (With Ann Dunagan)
In Jeremiah 9, God calls for the “wailing women” to come, because of the world’s sins and injustices; then He says, “Teach your daughters wailing . . .” As Christian women (of all ages), we need to see the world’s needs from God’s perspective, so we can care . . . and we can cry. Many needs should “pull” on the nurturing and life-giving hearts that God has given us as His girls –like the plight of orphans, teenage pregnancies, abortion, human trafficking (especially of young girls), and many unsaved women and children who need Jesus. In the next generation, a mighty army of spiritually-strong, daring daughters will be needed to pray . . . and to minister to these needs; but as homeschoolers, will we be so isolated, that we don’t even care? As Bob Pierce prayed, “Let my heart be broken with the things that break the heart of God.”
Preparing to be a Daring Daughter: World Missions for Teen Girls
Christi Dunagan introduces a vision to inspire teenage girls to be DARING DAUGHTERS for God. The Bible tells us, “How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace” (Romans 10:15). In this workshop, Christi shares from her perspective as a homeschooled graduate from a well-traveled mission-oriented family about “getting your feet dirty for God” as a girl in today’s needy world. History is filled with examples – such as Amy Carmichael, Gladys Alyward, Florence Nightingale, and Elisabeth Elliot – who were daring daughters. The focus is getting His heart for the world, and for the lost, and encouraging girls to prepare – spiritually, educationally, emotionally, and physically – to make an eternal difference for God’s kingdom. Developing as a daring daughter begins with little decisions, such a willingness to share a bedroom, daily time with God, and not being a picky eater; but it extends to huge areas of surrender and spiritual discipleship. As young women, how can we prepare our hearts for a future family and marriage, while nurturing a biblical-sensitivity to the needs of world missions? Come and be inspired to draw closer to Jesus and to glorify Him.
