Joy in the Home School Journey
New Zealand home schooler Rosie Boom says, “We've probably all run out of petrol [gasoline] on a journey, or put diesel in a petrol [gasoline] car. Grr.” Rosie will look at what the wrong and right fuels are to put in our 'home schooling tank', and how to prevent 'running out of fuel' on some lonely, deserted road.
Help! I’m a Cracked Vessel
New Zealand home schooler Rosie Boom explains that we mums [moms] are all assailed by feelings of inadequacy, doubt, fears…who are we to take on the huge task of teaching our children??! But God uses cracked, imperfect vessels. Rosie will take a look at some of the common cracks home schooling mums see all too clearly in their lives, and how they should handle them so that God's glory shines through those cracks.
The Great Romance
At 18, Rosie had a wonderful promise from God about her future marriage. She had no idea when the love of her life would arrive, but set about making the most of her single years. The next twelve years held great adventure on the mission field, tears, hope, a broken heart, disappointment, proposals, romance and love. Through it all she sought wholeheartedly to serve God and to wait for the man of His choosing. In this workshop Rosie shares honestly about the struggles and the joys of being a single girl on the mission field in Borneo. She offers hard-learned advice on how to navigate the exciting but sometimes painful waiting years. Inspiring, humorous, tender and full of godly wisdom.
When the Joy Fades
If you stay on the home schooling journey long enough, there will come a time when the joy fades for a season. Perhaps you're coping with a sick child. Or a child that just won't (or can't) learn. Perhaps you have a demanding wee baby who drains you of all your energy. This is all part and parcel of home schooling. So how do we cope? How do we renew our joy? How do we find again the enthusiasm that we once had? Come hear Rosie share practical and inspiring ideas on how to discover your joy again.
Home Schooling Up a Tree
Did you know that Dr. Paul Brand, the world-renowned reconstructive surgeon for lepers, did his school work as a child in India sitting up in a tree? Rosie takes a fun, inspirational and personal look at ways you can adapt your home education to whatever circumstances you are in. Learn to use your creativity and make the learning experience alive, vital and fun. Rosie will share her own experiences of home schooling her six children in their 94-year-old barn in northern rural New Zealand.
Choices
"Everything in life flows from decision." – Anonymous
Do we really understand that the choices we make today will impact the rest of our life? Gulp. It's both an exciting and fearful thing when we realise that we hold our own futures in our own hands. We've all made some dumb decisions. But how do we make sure we don't make really big ones? For that matter, what are the big choices? What are the pitfalls we need to avoid? Can you learn how to make good choices? Yes! Come and hear how.
