Fantasy and a Reader’s Heart
What led a homeschooling father to write tales of fantasy and adventure? In this talk, I will answer that question and more. What value does fantasy have in bringing about spiritual growth? How does it affect readers? Does it affect boys and girls differently? What are the qualities of good fantasy? How can a parent tell virtuous fantasy stories from those that might be a moral detriment? Using original artwork from his readers and clips from popular fantasy films, I explore these and other questions in this informative and practical presentation. This is my most popular workshop for parents.

An Author’s Publishing Journey
What does an author have to do in order to become published by a traditional publishing company? In this workshop, I describe the typical process an aspiring writer goes through, including practical tips on how to get an acquisitions editor’s attention. I also describe the world of self-publishing, along with the associated pros and cons. Since I share my own journey, this workshop is practical and inspirational.

Davis's Bio

Bryan was born in 1958 and grew up in the eastern U.S. From the time he taught himself how to read before school age, through his seminary years and beyond, he has demonstrated a passion for the written word, reading and writing in many disciplines and genres, including theology, fiction, devotionals, poetry, and humor.

In high school, he was valedictorian of his class and won various academic awards. He was also a member of the National Honor Society and voted Most Likely to Succeed.

He continues to expand his writing education by teaching at relevant writing conferences and conventions. Although he is now a full time writer, Bryan was a computer professional for over 20 years.

My hope is that this list will assist conference organizers in connecting with Bryan Davis and other workshop leaders and speakers. Furthermore, my desire is to help homeschool workshop leaders and speakers develop relationships with more convention planners and audiences. May your efforts be for the glory of Christ and the strengthening of His saints.
