How to Ride a Bicycle and Home School
Balance in the home schooling family can be tricky. It is kind of like riding a bicycle. Lean too far to the right and you will fall over. Lean too far to the left and you will fall over. Put the front brakes on too hard and you will flip over the top. Put the rear brakes on too hard and you will skid and swerve maybe even out of control!
How do you balance this bicycle called home schooling? How can you teach the important things of God’s Word without falling too far to the left or right? How can you impart wisdom and life’s truths without going over the top? What can you do to stop from skidding or swerving out of control?
A bicycle has two wheels, handle bar and a chain; a family is similar, only instead of wheels, handle bar and chain, there are parents, decisions and children.
It is, not to steal from the Moody Blues, A Question of Balance.
Home schooling is a great way of life but it is also a way filled with the dangers of imbalance. Our society is out of balance, our government does not have a balanced budget, and everywhere you turn you see a world out of balance. You cannot control the externals, but you can balance your home and your children. Your children need to watch you ride a bicycle and home school.
This presentation covers several ways in which a family can easily fall out of balance. John talks from firsthand experience of what it looks like to be too far right, left, flipping over the top and coming close to swerving out of control.
