Unfolding the Processing Disorder Diagnosis

Processing disorders are conditions that exist on a spectrum, where your brain has trouble receiving and responding to incoming information. Dr. Matthew E. Worth is an internationally recognized Functional Neurologist who has successfully treated thousands of patients with a variety of conditions ranging from complex neurological disorders to learning disabilities. As a native of St. Louis, Missouri, Dr. Worth completed his undergraduate education at St. Louis University and Logan University, obtaining a Bachelors of Science degree in Human Biology. While at Logan University, he served as a teaching assistant in the Gross Anatomy Division of the Clinical Science Department for 3-years, performing hundreds of human dissections and prosections, examination design and course development. In 1996, he obtained the designation Doctor of Chiropractic from Logan University where he received recognition for excellence by the Missouri House of Representatives, as well as numerous awards for Clinical Excellence.
Upon completion of graduate school, Dr. Worth established West County Physical Medicine, LLC, practicing full-time, while concurrently serving as a faculty member of Logan College of Chiropractic in both the Chiropractic Science & Clinical Science Departments for 5 years. During this time Dr. Worth completed a 4-year postdoctoral training in clinical neurology and successfully passed board certifying examinations leading to the certification of Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Neurology Board (one of only 675 Board Certified Chiropractic Neurologist in the world). In addition to completing over 4500+ hours of training in Clinical Neurology and case study, Dr. Worth received Fellowship status with the American College of Functional Neurology. During the course of his career, he has authored numerous papers and articles, with his most recent research published in the Journal of the International Academy of Functional Neurology and Rehabilitation.
Currently, Dr. Worth serves as the Clinic Director of Neurology Consultants/Midwest and Missouri Brain & Spine, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of neurological, neurobehavioral, neurodevelopmental, and neuromusculoskeletal disorders. Additionally, he acts as a consultant to both the medical and chiropractic professions regarding the evaluation & management of complex and/or difficult cases, and is a court appointed expert within the legal community for both plaintiff and defendant council. Concomitantly, for the last 8-years, Dr. Worth has served as an Associate Professor of Clinical Neurology, teaching doctors throughout North America and Europe the principles and applications of clinical neurology, and the emerging field of Functional Neurology. Moreover, he holds a post-graduate faculty position at Life University in Marietta, Georgia and an adjunct faculty position at Logan University in Chesterfield, Missouri.
Dr. Worth has also holds multiple Advanced Certifications in the fields of Neurobehavioral and Neurodevelopmental Childhood Disorders; Vestibular & Balance Disorder-Evaluation and Rehabilitation; and Advanced Electro-diagnostic Evaluation and Interpretation. Additionally, he has received comprehensive training in field of Functional Medicine and Blood Chemistry. His high degree of clinical acumen has allowed inter-referral relationships with local hospitals and physicians regarding the evaluation and treatment of neurodevelopmental and neurobehavioral disorders, traumatic brain injury (TBI) and stroke rehabilitation.
In April 2011, Dr. Worth and his wife opened the Midwest Institute for Neurological Development (MIND). MIND is Missouri’s first and only brain-based treatment and educational center dedicated to the evaluation and management of Neurobehavioral and Neurodevelopmental disorders, and educational disabilities. Conditions addressed at the facility will include, but are not limited to; learning disabilities, behavioral disorders, attention deficits disorder (ADD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), sensory integration disorders, central auditory processing disorders (CAPD), pervasive developmental disorders (PDD), obsessive compulsive disorders (OCD), Tourettes Syndrome, motor/vocal tics, Asperger's Syndrome and Board Spectrum Autistic Disorders. MIND is staffed with experts in the fields of neurology, neuroscience, neurological and brain-based rehabilitation, physical therapy, and occupational therapy. The educational staff includes special educators with certifications in learning disabilities (LD) and behavioral disorders (BD), reading specialists, and psychological examiners to render educational diagnosis. These highly experienced teams collaborate to design the most comprehensive and treatment program to meet each child’s specific needs.
Today Dr. Worth resides in St. Louis, Missouri with his wife Jackie and their two children, Lydia and Jonah.
