benchmark "A statement within the Sunshine State Standards that describes what students at a certain grade level should know and be able to do. More detailed than a strand or standard" (source: Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test [FCAT] 8.0 Glossary). “Statements of major milestones for learning for each of the Sunshine State Standards. For the academic subject areas, benchmarks are stated at four grade level clusters: Prekindergarten to Grade 2, Grades 3-5, Grades 6-8, and Grades 9-12.
