For Viewers of "Homekeepers" by Arthelene Rippy

Thank you for watching "Homekeepers."

"Homekeepers" is a television program dedicated to women who fill one of today's most vital roles in society... that of the homekeeper.  This program airs via Direct TV and through the Christian Television Network (CTN).

I've been privileged to appear on "Homekeepers," hosted by Arthelene Rippy, on a few occasions.

Wednesday, 30 January 2008:  Why it is critical to disciple your children in the home.

Tuesday, 10 June 2008:  Why homeschooling is growing so quickly in the United States.

Friday, 5 September 2008:   The Special Place of Grandparents and Great-grandparents in the Scripture.

Verses about Grandparents

JOY OF GRANDPARENTS

Ge. 50:23
“And Joseph saw Ephraim's children of the third generation: the children also of Machir the son Manasseh were brought up upon Joseph's knees.”

Pr 17:6
“Children's children are the crown of old men;”

HONORING AGE
Lev 19:32
“Thou shalt rise up before the hoary head, and honour the face of the old man...”

Pr 16:31
“The hoary head is a crown of glory, if it be found in the way of righteousness.”

GRANDPARENTS SHOULD TEACH

Consider the example of Lois who apparently influenced Timothy (2Ti. 1:5).

The elderly should be setting the best example and teaching the best life.

Tit. 2:2-5
“2 that the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience; 3 the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things-- 4 that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed.”

Ex 10:2
“And that thou mayest tell in the ears of thy son, and of thy son's son, what things I have wrought in Egypt, and my signs which I have done among them; that ye may know how that I am the LORD.”

Dt 4:9
“Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons' sons;”

THE BLESSING OF RIGHTEOUS GRANDPARENTS AND THE CURSE OF WICKED GRANDPARENTS

Ex 34:7
“Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.”

Ps 103:17-18
“But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children; To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.”

Ps 128:6
“Yea, thou shalt see thy children's children, and peace upon Israel.”

Pr 13:22
“A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.”

Jer 2:9
“Wherefore I will yet plead with you, saith the LORD, and with your children's children will I plead.”

Dt 6:2
“That thou mightest fear the LORD thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.”

DIFFICULTY OF OLD AGE

Ecc 12:1-7
Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth,
Before the difficult days come,
And the years draw near when you say,"I have no pleasure in them":
2 While the sun and the light,
The moon and the stars,
Are not darkened,
And the clouds do not return after the rain; 3 In the day when the keepers of the house tremble,
And the strong men bow down;
When the grinders cease because they are few,
And those that look through the windows grow dim; 4 When the doors are shut in the streets,
And the sound of grinding is low;
When one rises up at the sound of a bird,
And all the daughters of music are brought low; 5 Also they are afraid of height,
And of terrors in the way;
When the almond tree blossoms,
The grasshopper is a burden,
And desire fails.
For man goes to his eternal home,
And the mourners go about the streets.
6 Remember your Creator before the silver cord is loosed,
Or the golden bowl is broken,
Or the pitcher shattered at the fountain,
Or the wheel broken at the well.
7 Then the dust will return to the earth as it was,
And the spirit will return to God who gave it.
